Surrendered

Kathy Hwang, 2000

God I think I’m losing myself again.
Tumbling down the same roads of grief again.
Wanting so much to crawl into Your arms, but turning.
God I’ve made a mess of things again.
Trusting my own judgment to lead again.
Carrying my burdens ‘til I fall down, crashing.

And in my weakest hour
I find you waiting patiently again.

It’s the start of a brand new day again.
And I’m renewed and cleansed by faith again.
Every breath feels sweeter, like the first I’ve taken.
I life my voice and shout for joy again.
A familiar feeling warms my soul again.
And there is nothing I can do but stand in awe.

Surrendered is how you’ll find me,
For you are so perfect
I tremble in your sight.
And though I’ve turned away
A thousand times before,
You can touch my heart and have me
Falling at your feet in surrender.

And though I’m far from where I’d like to be
My hope is in the one who carries me.
Setting my sights forward, not behind, to things unseen.

Everyday I glimpse the beauty you weave,
Catch my breath and feel my knees get weak.
And there is nothing I can do but stand in awe.

Surrendered is how you’ll find me,
For you are so perfect
I tremble in your sight.
And though I’ve turned away
A thousand times before,
You can touch my heart and have me
Falling at your feet in surrender.
