Enough

Kathy Hwang, 1999

Half asleep with closing eyes,
Found where inspiration lies.
Seems these are the clearest times to think.

Never knowing where the day has gone.
She only knows it’s been too long.
Hard enough to find the strength to breathe.

And she forgot just what she’s fighting for.
‘Cause we all lose our way sometimes...
Sometimes.

They say she’s not good enough.
Still two steps from the cup,
Staring down at shoes three sizes large.

So she’ll push herself to make ends meet,
Dreaming only in her sleep.
Time runs out too fast and there’s no end.

And she forgot just what she’s fighting for.
‘Cause we all lose our way sometimes…
Sometimes.

She cries out searching for an answer,
But she doesn’t know who’s listening,
Beside her always, there to remind her
That in his eyes she is smart enough,
Strong enough, good enough.
And somehow it’s enough.

Search for beauty, search for wealth.
Search our souls for something else.
They fade away.

Half asleep with closing eyes,
Somewhere inhibition dies.
We finally get to think.

And we forget just what we’ve been fighting for.
‘Cause we all lose our way sometimes.

She cries out searching for an answer,
But she doesn’t know who’s listening,
Beside her always, there to remind her
That in his eyes she is smart enough,
Strong enough, good enough.
And somehow

We cry out searching for an answer,
But we don’t know who’s listening,
Beside us always, there to remind us
That in His eyes we are smart enough,
Strong enough, good enough.

It’s enough.
